Manipule de bouclier

Poitiers (86) - Musée Sainte-Croix

Musées de Poitiers, Christian Vignaud

A flat stem with rounded ends; at mid-length, it widens and the edges are curved; one end holds two circular-headed tenons spaced approx. 11 cm apart. This handle differs from the previous one in that its central part is quadrangular and curved, and its two straight rods are wider. It is joined to the shield plank by two rivets on just one of the rods - again, a different assembly system.
